The aim of DICE is to facilitate the knowledge and consultation of some of the publishing characteristics of the Spanish Social Sciences and Humanities scientific journals which are more closely related to quality and less subject to interpretations. In this new version of DICE are included indicators such as mechanisms of assessment of originals employed by journals, institutional and international openness of contributions published, compliance with the frequency of publication established, number of Latindex criteria fulfilled and the category of the journals in three different evaluation systems: ANEP, CARHUS and ERIH. In addition to indicating in which multidisciplinary or specialized databases of international prestige a journal is indexed, an overall score is assigned for its presence in these databases which is related to their relevance and to the requirements that a journal has to fulfil to be included.

DICE is the result of a collaboration agreement between Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA), institution which funds its maintenance.DICE y ha sido creada por el Grupo de Investigación Evaluation of Scientific Publications on Social and Human Sciences Research Group (EPUC) which belongs to the Institute of Documentary Studies on Science and Technology (IEDCYT) of the Centre of Human and Social Sciences (CCHS) .

ANECA uutilizes DICE as a quality reference for Spanish publications, in their processes of evaluation of university teachers and researchers.
